La Mesa Named Among Most Exciting Cities in America

La Mesa was one of two cities in the San Diego area to make the list compiled by the Movoto.com real estate blog.

Hip, fun, young.

Those are the kinds of words a real estate blog used to describe towns that aren't big but don't skimp on style. Coming in at #34, La Mesa made the site's list of the most exciting small cities in America.

The list was made by Movoto.com and takes into account things like nightlife, number of live music venues (the more, the better), number of fast food restaurants (the fewer, the better) and percentage of residents between 20 and 34.

La Mesa scored particularly high in categories measuring park and outdoor activities and a low number of fast food restaurants.

Movoto.com defined small towns as those with a population between 50,000-60,000

Many of the towns listed, like "The Little Apple" in Manhattan, KS, were near a college like La Mesa is near San Diego State University.

National City was also on the list at #32.
