Locked Doors Thwart Masked Man's Robbery Attempt at La Mesa Circle K

Police were looking for a stocky man between 5 feet 8 and 6 feet tall, last seen wearing a red and black wrestler's mask and a gray sweatshirt with the words "San Diego" embroidered on the chest.

A masked man apparently sought to rob a La Mesa convenience store early Friday morning but his plans were foiled because the store's clerk had previously locked the doors in order to stock shelves, police said.

The man tried to force his way through the locked doors of the Circle K at 8899 La Mesa Blvd. about 2:30 a.m., according to La Mesa police. He was last seen running away toward the area of state Route 125, police said in a statement.

Police were looking for a stocky man between 5 feet 8 and 6 feet tall, last seen wearing a red and black wrestler's mask and a gray sweatshirt with the  words "San Diego" embroidered on the chest. His race and age were unclear.
