Bush posted a tribute to Turley on Instagram Wednesday night.
"Jerome Turley was like a brother to me," Bush wrote. "I can truly say he brought joy to my life .... (his death) has left a lot of people including me confused and in disbelief."
The victim's cousin, Ty Brown, told the San Diego Union-Tribune that Turley worked construction, and for the last 15 years was one of the primary caregivers for a cousin with mental disabilities.
"Jerome was harmless and he would never hurt anybody," Bush wrote. "He was a good person period."
