Man Shot At Unlicensed Cannabis Dispensary In East County

A man was gravely wounded in a shooting in the parking lot of a Spring Valley cannabis dispensary, authorities said.

SPRING VALLEY, CA — A man was gravely wounded in a shooting in the parking lot of a Spring Valley cannabis dispensary, authorities said Wednesday.

The shooting happened shortly after 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at an unlicensed cannabis business on Olive Drive between Bancroft Drive and Helix Street, according to Lt. Thomas Seiver of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies responded to the scene and found a man had been shot in the parking lot outside the dispensary, Seiver said. Medics took the victim to a hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

The victim's age was not immediately available.

Homicide detectives were called to the scene to investigate the circumstances leading up to the shooting.

No suspect description was immediately available.

On Sunday morning, deputies raided a different illegal cannabis dispensary on Olive Street, seizing more than 400 pounds of marijuana and $3,500 in cash.
