Skateboarder Hit by Car Near Lake Murray

The 18-year-old skateboarder was hit crossing Cowles Mountain Boulevard at Navajo Road shortly before 8 p.m. Sunday.

A skateboarder crossing a street against a red light was struck by a car in the Lake Murray neighborhood, police said Sunday.

The 18-year old skateboarder was northbound, crossing Cowles Mountain Boulevard at Navajo Road shortly before 8 p.m.

He was struck by a 2007 Nissan sedan traveling west on Navajo Road, San Diego police officer David Stafford said. He sustained leg fractures and abrasions and was transported to a local trauma center.

The driver of the vehicle was a woman in her 20s. Stafford said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
