Update: Thousands Lose Power In Early Morning Outage

More than 2,000 La Mesa customers lost power around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Nearly 2,200 San Diego Gas & Electric customers lost power in La Mesa early Tuesday.

The outage struck at 3:27 a.m. and was initially expected to last until 6 a.m., according to the utility's website.

As of 9 a.m., power had been restored to all but 936 customers. SDG&E estimated power would restored to everyone by 4 p.m. By late afternoon, all affected neighborhoods were back on line.

The cause was under investigation.
