Ugly is good for business for one Spring Valley store.
Diego's Thrift Store at 9935 Campo Road has made selling less than beautiful sweaters a central part of its holiday season selection.
"My wife works hard on these. She made 300 this year," said Rick Scavia about the sweaters made by his wife Shelly Scavia.Â
The large ugly sweater collection ranges from poncho style pieces of red felt to sweaters with ornaments to the classic Bill Cosby inspired sweater.
The family owned business first heard about the ugly sweater trend years ago in radio ads and news stories, said Larry Scavia.Â
"There's a party for this each week," Larry said. "It's fun."
The ugly selection has attracted new customers and attention to the thrift store during the holiday season, Larry said.Â
"You've got to enjoy when you see stuff like this, putting a sweater together like this takes time," he said.
