Aggressive East Bay Area Coyote Sought After Several Attacks

Bay Area law enforcement and state agencies are searching for a coyote that has bitten five people in East Bay cities.

EAST BAY AREA, CA — Officials are tracking a particularly aggressive coyote in the East Bay after the animal bit at least five people, National Public Radio reported.

DNA samples taken from the victims has linked all cases back to one coyote in a two-mile radius around the eastern Bay Area cities, Moraga and Lafayette. The coyote has reportedly attacked adults and children, including kids aged 2 and 3, NPR reported.

A Moraga man said he was bitten as he was doing his morning workout at a high school football field. The most recent attack happened outside a Kwik Stop convenience store on Friday, NPR reported.

Although all victims have recovered, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, the Department of Agriculture and local law enforcement agencies are working to find the coyote and euthanize it. Agencies hope to test the coyote for rabies, NPR reported.
