BART Buses in Walnut Creek Full Before 7 a.m. Tuesday

Many commuters stranded and seeking others ways to get to work.

by Bay City News

The charter buses BART provided to commuters stranded by the strike were full early Tuesday morning, leaving many more commuters scratching their heads and wondering how to get to work.

Trains stopped running Monday morning because of the strike, but BART has been providing dozens of buses to take commuters to and from San Francisco.

BART spokesman Jim Allison said buses at the El Cerrito del Norte, Walnut Creek, Dublin/Pleasanton and Fremont stations reached capacity before 7 a.m.

Allison said there was limited capacity on buses departing from the West Oakland station. Those buses were scheduled to operate until 8 a.m.

If the strike continues on Wednesday, he said, BART will work to increase its bus capacity.

Meanwhile, union officials and BART management were set to resume negotiations on Tuesday.
