A sarcastic comment from a Lamorinda resident begs the question: is organic food really the key to a healthy lifestyle? Or is it an overrated money-suck?

The organic food movement has whetted the collective appetite for natural, pesticide-free produce, and now it seems to be everywhere — from big-brand grocery stores to local restaurants.Â
But going back to basics — often for a higher price — is a trend not without irony. "Try organic food," suggests one fake advertisement flying around the Internet, "... or as your grandparents called it, 'Food'."
