ORINDA - Repairs to a broken water main in Orinda were completed Monday night after crews spent almost six hours working on the 12-inch cast transmission pipe, East Bay Municipal Utility District officials said.

It initially caused EBMUD customers in the area to lose water service, but service was back to all customers by about 10:30 a.m., Morales-Noisy said.

Morales-Noisy explained that EBMUD was able to restore water service because the affected pipe was not a distribution pipe but a transmission line that connects to a distribution reservoir.

EBMUD officials initially said there was also a home with property damage but have since clarified that it was actually two homes that sustained damage.
