Free Day At San Francisco Zoo For East Bay Residents: Sept. 17

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Here's a chance for family fun without breaking the bank!

The San Francisco Zoo & Gardens is celebrating its 90th anniversary by offering free admission to Bay Area residents on Thursdays in September.

Each week, visitors from specific regions of the San Francisco Bay Area will get free admission to the zoo as part of "Good Neighbor Free Days."

Here's the schedule:

• Admission will be free Sept. 5 for South Bay residents in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties.
• Admission will be free Sept. 12 for residents of San Francisco County.
• Admission will be free Sept. 19 for East Bay residents in Alameda and Contra Costa counties.
• Admission will be free Sept. 26 for North Bay residents in Marin, Napa, Solano and Sonoma counties.

In addition to free admission, the zoo will host a special Happy Hour with adult and children beverages along with entertainment from 3 to 6 p.m.

The zoo will also stay open an hour later each Thursday. Zoo hours will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Visitors must bring valid identification showing their address. Each adult must provide proof of where they live via a driver's license, identification card, or a utility, phone or other local bill as well as a current photo ID.

Nestled against the Pacific Ocean, the San Francisco Zoo houses more than 2,000 exotic, endangered and rescued animals representing over 250 species as well as gardens full of native and foreign plants. The zoo is located at Sloat Boulevard and Great Highway in San Francisco.
