Gas Leak Shut Down Pleasant Hill Road Tuesday
Construction crews ruptured a gas line on the 1300 block of Pleasant Hill Rd.

A stretch of Pleasant Hill Road in Lafayette has reopened and a gas leak in the area has been capped, according to police and a PG&E spokeswoman.
     Â
A 3/4-inch high-pressure gas line at a construction site in the 1300 block of Pleasant Hill Road in Lafayette ruptured around 2:50 p.m., PG&E spokeswoman Tamar Sarkissian said.
     Â
Workers from a third-party construction crew were digging in the area when the break occurred, she said.
     Â
The gas line was squeezed off and the leak stopped around 4:20Â p.m., the spokeswoman said.
     Â
Sarkissian said no customers appear to have lost gas service due to the leak.
     Â
The gas line rupture prompted police to warn residents in the area to stay indoors and close all doors and windows.
     Â
One lane of Pleasant Hill Road that was initially closed reopened around 4:10 p.m., according to police.
     Â
Anyone who smells gas in their neighborhood is advised to close all doors and windows and call Lafayette police at (925) 284-5010 or 911.
