Moraga Police Arrest Suspect Driving Around With Burglary Tools

With the help of a resident report and footage from the Moraga community camera system, police were able to arrest a burglary suspect.

MORAGA, CA — A suspect who was driving around with burglary tools and a large amount of property, including a bicycle, was arrested in Moraga on Sunday, according to the Moraga Police Department.

At 5:45 a.m. on Sunday, a Moraga resident called the department to report a suspicious person in the area of Sanders Drive and Larch Avenue. Officers were able to catch up to the suspect, described by a caller, on Canyon Road as they were leaving the city, police said in a statement.

Officers said they were able to use Moraga's community camera system to get more information on the suspect. The suspect, who was not named, was arrested and booked into the Contra Costa County Jail.

Moraga residents of the neighborhood around Sanders Drive and Larch Avenue were advised to check their residences to make sure they aren't missing anything.;

"This is an example of the importance of observant residents reporting suspicious activity in neighborhoods and of the value of our community camera system," police wrote in a statement.
