Moraga sixth-grader Adriana Derksen is a semifinalist in the California National Geographic Bee.
Adriana attends Joaquin Moraga Intermediate School in Moraga.
Individual school winners took a qualifying test, with the top 100 scorers moving on to the state bee at Cosumnes River College in Sacramento on Friday, April 5. The state winner receives $100, the "Complete National Geographic on DVD," and a May trip to the national finals in Washington, D.C., according to a California Geographic Bee news release.
Sponsors include the National Geographic Society, Google and Plum Creek.
