One Man Dead In Highway 24 Crash In Lafayette

LAMORINDA, CA — One man died in a solo-vehicle crash on westbound Highway 24 in Lafayette Monday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The victim was a 57-year-old man from El Sobrante . His name is not available.

The crash was reported at 4:38 p.m. on westbound Highway 24 east of Pleasant Hill Road. A 2017 white GMC Sierra was heading west when it veered across all lanes of traffic and up a dirt embankment north of the highway, then struck a metal pole.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, CHP officials said.
