Power Out For Thousands Following Storm
At one point on Thursday, some 40,000 Bay Area PG&E customers were in the dark.

BAY AREA — More than 17,000 PG&E customers remain without power in the Bay Area as of Thursday afternoon following an atmospheric river that brought heavy rain and strong winds through the region.
The stormy weather caused substantial damage across the Bay Area, including a mudslide in Sausalito that hospitalized a woman, destroyed two homes and prompted the evacuation of dozens of others. A levee breach was also reported in Marin County in the area of state Highway 37 and Novato Creek.
Multiple school districts in Sonoma County canceled classes for the day because of flooding and other storm-related issues. San Francisco State University and San Jose City College also briefly closed because of weather-related power outages.
