Competition Takes Place March 28th

Based on the 2018 National Challenge, and in the spirit of inventor/artist Rube Goldberg, students must create a machine using objects such as marbles, dominoes, magnets or levers that will pour cereal into a bowl in 12 steps. Students’ machines will be judged on creativity, timing and accuracy.
Mike Meneghetti, science and robotics/engineering teacher at Stanley Middle School in Lafayette, has lead the event since 2000. He believes that Stanley Middle School is one of the few, if not the only, middle school in the bay area to hold a contest where students choose to participate in this challenging endeavor.

“Students put in 40+ hours - outside of class time - attending meetings, designing, building and perfecting their intricate machines. I could not be more proud of the students' efforts and involvement.”
The 2018 Rube Goldberg Contest is sponsored by Stanley Middle School and Lafayette Partners in Education. The event is free and begins at 7pm. Public welcome!
