SMC MFA Graduate Student Reading Nov. 28
Join the SMC MFA program at the SMC campus in Moraga, for a night of electrifying readings from our very own MFA candidates
Join the SMC MFA program on November 28, 2018, at the SMC campus in De La Salle Hall: Hagerty Lounge in Moraga, for a night of electrifying readings from our very own MFA candidates. The evening’s stellar authors include: Ed Hirtzel, Zoë Loos, Julie Mackay, and Patrick Myers.
Doors open at 7:30pm; readings begin at 7:45. The event will include delectable treats and adult beverages.
Ed Hirtzel serves as a Composition Fellow at Saint Mary's College of California & the Publishing Manager for River of Words at the Center for Environmental Literacy. Her poems retain an abiding interest in, among other things, expansive analytic observation of external and internal worlds, exploring the liminal, and defining and challenging lesbian aesthetics.

Zoë Malia Ozoa Loos loves ‘ugly animals’ such as sphynx cat and blobfish. She also enjoys talking the fuzz off a peach; writing (which if she didn’t, would be odd for the MFA program); photography; certain people; and anything to do with the environment and societal dilemmas. She is honored and privileged to be at SMC and to learn more about writing while being surrounded by talented artists!
Julie Mackay is a Poet/ former English teacher/amateur Oneironaut. Occasional hair stylist for fun, can generally be spotted trolling about San Francisco. Fond of obese cats and pickled things. Ennamored with questions and prose poems. Especially questions within prose poems.

Patrick Myers did his undergraduate at Saint Mary’s College where he took a variety of creative
writing classes. Upon graduating he knew that the only place he wanted to go for his MFA in
creative writing was Saint Mary’s. While in the program Patrick has worked on several short
stories, but has spent his second year focusing on a novel. He has been published in the Saint
Mary’s undergraduate magazine Riverrun.
The Graduate Student Reading Series is hosted by the GSR Committee: Victoria Billings, Michael DuBon, Zoë Loos, and Terry Taplin.
The SMC MFA in Creative Writing offers students a campus environment that feels like a writing retreat within the bustling Bay Area. We have a stellar faculty that includes Marilyn Abildskov, Brenda Hillman, Lysley Tenorio and Matthew Zapruder, as well excellent Visiting Writers.
