Snow, Wind, Rain Headed To East Bay

The snow level will drop low enough that Mount Diablo should get a dusting.

EAST BAY — The rain earlier this week was just a warm-up for the storm about to wallop the Bay Area, according to the National Weather Service. It will begin moving in Wednesday and hit full-force on Thursday.

Here in the East Bay, the cold front will push in strong winds Wednesday, with gusts up to 40 mph. The National Weather Service does not expect to issue any advisories.

Moderate to heavy rain is expected to arrive mid-morning on Thursday, with accumulations up to an inch in most communities.

The snow level will drop to as low as 3000 feet, so Mt. Diablo at 3,848 feet should get snow, while Mission Peak in Fremont at 2,516 will get wet but not white.

If you've heard about possible thunderstorms, they are supposed to miss the East Bay.
