Corte Madera to Hold Public Meeting to Discuss Potential New Retail Store

Restoration Hardware Gallery would be located at 1618 Redwood Highway, at the Village at Corte Madera.

A public meeting is scheduled for Nov. 17 regarding a planned 46,000 square-foot retail store referred to as the Restoration Hardware Gallery (RH Gallery) that would sit within the existing parking lot of the Village at Corte Madera.

Also to be discussed are improvements to the existing gravel lot on the north side of Redwood Highway.

Co-applicants Corte Madera Village and Restoration Hardware have filed an application with the Town of Corte Madera for what's known as the Village at Corte Madera Restoration Hardware Expansion project.

The town, as lead agency, is seeking input from responsible and trustee agencies and the general public as to the content of an upcoming Environmental Impact Report regarding the project, which would be located at 1618 Redwood Highway, at the Village at Corte Madera in Corte Madera, Marin County.

The following environmental factors have been identified as potential environmental effects of the project that are to be evaluated in the Environmental Impact Report: aesthetics; land use and planning; air quality; biological resources; cultural resources; geology and soils; greenhouse gas emissions; hazards and hazardous materials; water quality; noise; population and housing; public services; recreation; transportation/traffic; and utilities and service systems.

In addition, the EIR will evaluate potential cumulative environmental effects, identify and evaluate alternatives, and identify mitigation measures that could avoid or reduce significant environmental impacts.

A period Oct. 25 to Nov. 30, has been set aside for written comments to be mailed, delivered, or emailed regarding the project. Deadline is 5 pm on Nov. 30.

A public meeting on the issue is set for 7 pm to 9 pm Nov. 17, during which the general public will have the opportunity to hear presentations by town staff, the applicants, and the environmental consulting firm under contract with the town to prepare the Environmental Impact Report.

Oral and written comments related to the scope and content of the environmental review of the project, may be given at the meeting, which will be held at Corte Madera Town Hall, Council Chambers, 300 Tamalpais Dr.

For those not able to attend, written comments also will be accepted after the meeting through 5 p.m. Nov. 30.
