Corte Madera Rocks on Wednesday

Explore Marin's music history with some of its legends during the Hooked on Marin Speaker Series.

Here are some of the highlights happening around the Larkspur and Corte Madera Twin Cities area Nov. 27-28:

Sammy Hagar, Grace Slick and Huey Lewis. We all know the names of some of the more famous rockers who have called Marin their home. But there are many more names and a lot of stories to go with them.

Join rock historian and College of Marin instructor Richie Unterberger for a rare glimpse into the Marin music scene. This third in the Hooked on Marin Speaker Series will feature rare archival video and audio footage from the 60s & 70s and stories from living legends: Dan Hicks (of Dan Hicks & His Hot Licks) and former KSAN DJ and actor Terry McGovern.

• Children's Storytime: Let's not forget how reading is FUNdamental for children, too. There are a variety of reading groups for young children and their parents around town. Mother Goose is on the loose at the Corte Madera Library every Tuesday at 10 a.m. for storytime for babies 0-24 months old, with a parent or caregiver. The Larkspur Library offers fun for babies and toddlers, with songs, fingerplays, nursery rhymes and very short stories just right for this age group. Pottery Barn Kids, Barnes & Noble Booksellers and Book Passage also offer children's storytimes.

• Procrastinate at your leisure: Yes! We finally have permission to procrastinate and feel good about it! Well, sort of, anyway. Author John Perry will be at Book Passage in Corte Madera on Tuesday at 7 p.m. to share his new book The Art of Procrastination. It's not just putting off chores because you'd rather watch TV right now. Perry suggests "structured procrastination" can actually help a person get a lot done.
