Fire Burns Roof Of 3-Story Corte Madera Home

A man who lived in the residence was alerted to the fire by smoke detectors on the ground floor of the home, officials said.

CORTE MADERA, CA —A fire early Thursday morning caused damage to the roof and third floor of a residence in Corte Madera, a fire official said.

A man who lived in the residence in the 200 block of Summit Drive was alerted to the fire by smoke detectors on the ground floor of the home, Central Marin Deputy Fire Chief Don Stasiowski said.

Firefighters responded around 2 a.m. and knocked down the fire within 20 minutes. The fire was out by 2:50 a.m.

The fire was difficult to extinguish because the house was located on a hill, Stasiowski said.

Firefighters from San Rafael, Mill Valley and Kentfield also responded to the blaze.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

CORTE MADERA, CA — Crews extinguished a house fire early Thursday morning in Corte Madera.

The fire sparked at a home in the 200 block of Summit Drive, the Central Marin Police Authority reported shortly before 3 a.m.

The blaze was isolated to the residence and did not effect surrounding homes or vegetation, according to the Central Marin Fire Department. No evacuation orders were issued.
