'Love Always Wins Over Hate': Redwood High Shows Love for Asst. Principal Targeted by Racial Slur
BREAKING: Following an alleged hate crime in which a racial slur was painted on the Marin school's spirit ball, the word "Love" was painted.

LARKSPUR, CA — One day after a racial slur was spray-painted at Redwood High School in Larkspur, reportedly targeting the school's assistant principal, LaSandra White, the Redwood Giants countered the derogatory graffiti with messages of love.
Redwood High School shared photos Wednesday on its social media pages of students hugging Mrs. White and giving her flowers. Also, the word "Love" was written on the school's "Spirit Ball," the same place the racial epithet was discovered early Tuesday morning.
"Love always wins over hate!" the school wrote in Twitter and Facebook posts.

Central Marin Police Authority are investigating the racial graffiti, which was discovered by school officials at about 8 a.m. Tuesday on the athletic field, where the spirit ball stands as a place for students to write positive messages encouraging school spirit.
An image of the graffiti posted on Twitter showed that it said "Mrs. White is a ******."

The vandalism occurred sometime after 3 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. Tuesday, according to police.
"The statement was hate speech, so the case will be handled as a hate crime," police said.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Detective Cody Ebert at 415-927-5150 or cebert@centralmarinpolice.org.
On Wednesday, a Redwood High parent who wished to remain anonymous told Patch in an email:
"My son, who has Mrs. White as an assistant principal, told me about how bad the students felt and how the leadership community decided to do something about it. This morning upon his arrival at school, there were students at most (if not all ... I am not sure) entrances with flowers in their hands, passing them out to students and telling them to take them to Room 114, where her office is.
"He told me about the mounds and mounds and vases of flowers showing support for Ms. White. He told me about the huge banner they made which the students could sign with their best wishes or expressing "We love you Ms. White!" or whatever they wanted.
"The racial slur does NOT represent the way the students feel at the school and now it seems that the school will have a reputation as being a racist white kid school.
"PLEASE REPORT ON THE HUMAN SIDE OF THIS. We need the media to not always add to the divisiveness in our society but show the other sides. Please share some good out of the bad, the community coming together against the misguided racist actions of the individual who chose to act very very poorly."
