New Bus Route Links Marin County and East Bay

The pilot route starts on Monday.

MARIN COUNTY, CA- Golden Gate Transit will launch a new pilot bus route linking several East Bay cities to Marin County next week.

Starting Monday, Route 580 will run every 30 minutes between San Rafael and Emeryville, Berkeley and Albany, with five westbound trips in the morning and five eastbound trips in the afternoon, Golden Gate Transit officials said Tuesday.

The route will travel along Hollis Street, Ashby Avenue, San Pablo Avenue and Buchanan Street in the East Bay. In Marin County, it will travel a route similar to Route 40 but will be extended along a portion of Andersen Drive previously served by Route 42.
