Police Log: Cellphone Camera Set Up In Bathroom, Forged Checks And A Stolen Telescope

Between May 22 - 28, CMPA had 574 calls for service.

CMPA Officers went to the Bon Air Shopping Center in response to a 9-1-1 hang up call.  While en route, a second 9-1-1 call, with a female crying and a male heard slurring words in the background, was received.  Officers contacted a Novato couple.  The male subject was determined to be intoxicated.  A Novato man was arrested for Public Intoxication and booked at the Marin County Jail.

A resident of the 500 block of Via Hidalgo reported his locked vehicle had been entered while it was parked in the area of his residence.  There were no signs of forced entry.  A digital camera, valued at $1500, and other miscellaneous items were taken.  An Auto Burglary report was taken.

A business in the 2000 block of Redwood Highway reported a hole was cut in their fence and two bicycles were taken.  Documentation was provided for the theft.

An employee of a business in the Village Shopping Center reported a former co-worker, who has been terminated, secretly made an audio recording of her and she now fears she may be trying to use it against her to retaliate for her firing.  All the involved parties were contacted and it was determined the recording has been deleted.  An Eavesdropping report was taken to document the incident; however the subject has requested no prosecution.

A Corte Madera Department of Public Works employee reported they had located graffiti vandalism on the bathroom wall at Granada Park.  Photographs were taken to document the vandalism.

While on patrol in the area of San Anselmo Ave. and Tunstead Ave., a CMPA Officer was flagged down regarding a road rage incident between a San Anselmo resident and a Sebastopol resident.  The Officer mediated the situation and the subjects were sent on their way.

A caller reported a vehicle parked in a lot in the 10 block of Koch Road which was occupied by two subjects.  CMPA Officers contacted the subjects who advised they smoked marijuana prior to the officer’s arrival.  Arrangements were made to have the subjects picked up from the location.

A resident of the 100 block of Sycamore Ave. reported a green with silver Bianchi Cruiser bicycle, valued at approximately $900, was stolen from their carport four months ago.  Documentation was provided for the theft.

A resident of the 5000 block of Paradise Drive reported he was out of town on vacation and when he returned, medication was missing from his room.  He stated he contacted his insurance company who advised him to file a police report.  Documentation was provided for the theft.

A San Anselmo resident reported his black and green Specialized Status, 9 speeds mountain bike, valued at approximately $2500, was taken from where it was parked in the 1300 block of Sir Francis Drake Blvd. via the lock being cut.  A Grand Theft report was taken.

An employee of Rite Aid, located in the Corte Madera Town Center, reported they had a subject detained for the theft of merchandise.  Upon the Officers arrival, the store declined prosecution.  However it was determined the subject had an outstanding warrant held by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office.  A Eureka man was arrested for the warrant and booked at the Marin County Jail.

An employee of a business on South Eliseo Drive reported one of her employees located a cell phone in the restroom that had been set up to record the female employees.  They were able to determine the owner of the phone was a juvenile male employee.  A San Pablo Juvenile male was arrested for Invasion of Privacy in a Bathroom via Device.  He was transported to CMPA for processing and then released to his mother on a citation.

A resident of the 400 block of South Eliseo Drive reported there was a male subject drinking behind the building that stumbled to his vehicle and drove away.  Officers checked the area for the subject and vehicle and were unable to locate them.

A subject reported a vehicle he borrowed from a friend was stolen from where it was parked in the 700 block of San Anselmo Ave.  The vehicle’s owner responded to the scene and an Auto Theft report was taken.  The vehicle was entered into the Stolen Vehicle System.

A resident of the 130 block of Woodland Ave. reported business checks were stolen and someone forged his mother’s signature to cash them.  The loss is approximately $4000.  A Fraud report was taken and there may be additional investigation pending.

A Fairfax resident, who is a student at Sir Francis Drake High School, reported the theft of his bicycle from the school.  The bicycle is a black Marin Muir Woods, 21 speeds, valued at approximately $800.  The bicycle had been locked at the time it was stolen.  Documentation was provided for the theft and the bicycle was entered into the Automated Property System.

A resident of the 20 block of Loma Vista Ave. reported she received a call from the “Federal Legal Department” stating she needed to get an attorney regarding information on her credit and there is a warrant out for her arrest.  She advised the caller knew her address and personal information.  It was determined the incident was a phone scam.  There was no loss and she did not provide the caller with any personal information.  Documentation was provided for the attempted fraud.

A resident of the 10 block of Durham Road reported his ex-girlfriend came to his house wanting to pick up some of her property.  When she left, she took both of his phones and his vehicle.  He advised she returned the vehicle and phones an hour later.  The phones were damaged and there are additional items missing.  A report was taken and there is follow-up pending.

A resident of the 300 block of Via La Cumbre reported a female subject stole a telescope on a tripod from the front deck of his residence and drove away.  The involved vehicle was last seen headed towards Sir Francis Drake Blvd.  CMPA Officers checked the area and were unable to locate the subject or vehicle.  The loss is approximately $50.  A Petty Theft report was taken.

A resident of the 40 block of Echo Ave. reported fifteen to twenty juveniles drinking and smoking what smells like marijuana.  Officers responded and the juveniles scattered into the marsh.  Officers checked the area and were unable to locate the subjects.  Extra patrol was provided for the area.

A resident of the 1100 building of Lincoln Village Circle reported a subject found his father’s keys outside their apartment, pushed the button to locate the car, and then left on foot with a group when he confronted them.  Officers located a Novato male, a Fairfax male and a San Rafael juvenile female.  The keys were recovered in the swimming pool.  The juvenile's parents were advised of the incident and gave permission for her to be released to the Fairfax man.  The Novato man was determined to be on Marin County probation.  An incident report was taken to forward to his probation officer.

A resident of the 60 block of Angela Ave. reported some subjects were rifling through his neighbors garbage.  When he turned on his light, they ran to a waiting vehicle and drove away towards Butterfield Road.  Officers checked the area and were unable to locate the vehicle.  Documentation was provided for the incident.

A resident of the 30 block of El Camino Drive reported someone scratched profanity on the rear passenger door of his vehicle, also causing a dent.   He advised his daughter said she heard someone laughing outside during the night.  Documentation was provided for the vandalism.

A San Anselmo resident reported his locked bicycle, a white Cannondale, 21 speeds, valued at $1500, was stolen from where it was parked at the Golden Gate Ferry Terminal.  The area was checked for the bicycle with negative results.  A Grand Theft report was taken.

A resident of the 20 block of Foss Ave. reported the theft of jewelry from a dresser.  A Residential Burglary report was taken.  There is possible follow-up pending.

A resident of the 30 block of Agatha Court reported a vehicle has been parked in the area for two to three weeks and the driver’s door was unlocked.  The vehicle was determined to be a stolen vehicle from San Rafael which had been reported to the San Rafael Police Department on April 13, 2013.  The vehicle was not damaged, stripped or burned.  SRPD was notified and the vehicle was removed from the Stolen Vehicle System.

While on patrol in the area of Monona Drive and Mohawk Ave., a CMPA Officer observed a juvenile female and a juvenile male walking with what appeared to be stolen property from Safeway, located in the Corte Madera Town Center.  Upon contacting the subjects, it was determined that the female subject had shoplifted the items.  During a search of the male subject, he was found to be in possession of cigarettes.  A Corte Madera juvenile female was arrested for Obstructing a Peace Officer in the Performance of their Duty and Shoplift.  A Richmond juvenile male was arrested for Obstructing a Peace Officer in the Performance of their Duty and Minor in Possession of Tobacco Products.  Both were released to a parent on citations.

A Corte Madera resident reported he was parked near the Corte Madera library when another vehicle backed into his vehicle causing damage.   Contact was made with the subject and the other involved driver who had engaged in a physical fight regarding the minor damage.  The situation was mediated and no one wished to prosecute.  Documentation was provided for the incident.

An employee of Hall Middle School reported she is a teacher and saw graffiti vandalism at the rear of the school.  Photographs were taken to document the vandalism.

Pursuant to contacting a subject in the Corte Madera Town Center, a San Rafael man was arrested for Possession of Narcotics Paraphernalia and Violation of Probation.  He was booked at the Marin County Jail.

A Corte Madera resident reported her black and red Specialized woman’s bicycle, 18 speeds, valued at approximately $600, was stolen from where it was parked in the Marin Country Mart shopping center.  Documentation was provided for the theft.

A resident of the 30 block of San Clemente Drive reported she heard glass breaking and saw a subject running away from a vehicle towards the rear of the lot. The owner of the vehicle was located and confirmed it had been vandalized.  A window had been broken and graffiti was scratched in the hood.  A Vandalism report was taken.

While on patrol in the 600 block of San Anselmo Ave., a CMPA Officer located graffiti on the side of a building. Photographs were taken to document the vandalism.

A resident of the 90 block of Woodside Drive reported someone entered their open garage and took a black Rocky Mountain Soul, 24 speeds, mountain bike, valued at approximately $700.  Documentation was provided for the theft.

A Loss Prevention Agent for Nordstrom, located in the Village Shopping Center, reported tools taken from the construction site of a company working at the store.  Seven jack hammers were taken, for a loss of $6300.  A Grand Theft report was taken.  Another construction company, also working at the store, reported the lock was cut off their construction container and electrical wire was taken.  A Commercial Burglary report was taken.  Another construction company reported their storage area was also broken into via locks being cut, but nothing was taken.  Documentation was provided for the incident.

Pursuant to contacting a subject in the 1300 block of San Anselmo Ave., he was determined to be in possession of narcotics.  A Forestville man was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Marijuana.  He was booked at the Marin County Jail.

The owner of a business in the 700 block of Sir Francis Drake Blvd. reported he was moving items from his office to a storage unit in Bel Marin Keys and hired two day laborers from San Rafael to assist him.  A box that wasn't supposed to be moved, which had valuable contents including a $6000 ring, is now missing.  The total loss is approximately $7300.  A Grand Theft report was taken for documentation.

A Loss Prevention Agent for Nordstrom, located in the Village Shopping Center, reported a subject purchased $645 worth of merchandise with a stolen credit card.  A Fraud report was taken and there may be additional investigation pending.

An employee of a business in the Cost Plus Plaza reported a co-worker slapped him in the face. An Assault/Battery report was taken and there is follow-up pending.

A resident of the 10 block of Hilldale Drive reported her locked bicycle was taken from the driveway that runs next to her residence. The wire lock was cut and left behind.  The bicycle is a navy blue Beach Cruiser type bike with white and teal rims, dark brown basket in the front, and a big brown leather seat.  Documentation was provided for the theft.

A Fairfax resident reported her credit card was used at a business in the 700 block of Sir Francis Drake Blvd.  The loss is approximately $500 to $700.  A Fraud report was taken.
