The show starts at 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 27 near the Elephant Fountain.

The central courtyard will double as a cinema for the third and final time this year, with The Hunger Games closing out the pop-up movie series hosted by the California Film Institute.

Part of the organization’s Movie Nights at Town Center, the show starts at 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 27 near the Elephant Fountain. The movie is geared toward an older demographic, from tweens and teenagers to adults. It features Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen, who voluntarily takes her younger sister’s place in the Hunger Games, a televised fight to the death.

The Princess Bride also played on June 29 and Monster’s Inc. on June 1 as part of a new agreement with the California Film Institute.

“Part of our mission as one of the only nonprofit movie theaters in the nation, is to reach out to the community through programs like this and make great films and film programs available to everyone," said California Film Institute Marketing and Communications Manager Kevin Heverin. “Town Center with its central Marin location is the perfect place to present a movie night for families outdoors in a pleasant setting.”

Powered by popchips, the event will also feature a Hollywood-esque VIP snackers’ lounge where movie goers will receive complimentary samples of Katy Perry’s new Katy’s Kettle Corn popchips and have the opportunity to “pop and pose” on the red carpet.

Town Center Corte Madera General Manager Stan Hoffman has said the evening is meant to provide family-fun entertainment, and many businesses have also gotten involved.

“Some of the Center’s restaurants will offer movie night dinner or snack specials to add the finishing touch to what we hope will be a great new tradition at Town Center,” he said.
