Proposals Call For Building 200+ New Residences In Livermore
City council will decide whether to allow housing plans on nearly 45 acres in Livermore.
LIVERMORE, CA — Two separate development plans that have the potential to bring more than 200 new residences to nearly 45 acres in Livermore will be considered at city council Monday. During its regularly scheduled meeting tonight, council members will hold hearings on proposals from Ponderosa Homes and Westgate Ventures. The Livermore Planning Commission has already recommended that council move forward with the Ponderosa application, while city staff has recommended forward progress on the Westgate application.
Jeff Schroeder of Ponderosa Homes has applied with the city to subdivide a 4.2-acre site in the 1600 block of Lomitas Avenue for construction of nine single-family homes on a new street connecting to Lomitas Avenue. The proposed residences range in size from 3,228-3,991 square feet on lots from 13,585-21,264 square feet. The project proposes to remove an existing single-family home, accessory buildings and vegetation, and the new street will connect to Larry’s Place for emergency vehicle access.
The Westgate Ventures plan submitted by Adam Tennant proposes to change the city's General Plan designation of two vacant properties totaling approximately 35 acres to urban medium high residential housing and open space that would make way for the development of 193 townhouse units, including 29 affordable units. Currently, the parcels are zoned for low-intensity industrial, service commercial and limited agriculture. The vacant properties under consideration are located along Lassen Road, northwest of I-580 and the First Street overpass.
