Biker Killed In 405 Crash That Caused Hours-Long Closures

A San Fernando Valley man was killed in a crash that forced the closure of several San Diego (405) Freeway lanes in West LA Wednesday.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Several lanes of the San Diego (405) Freeway were shut down Wednesday when a 25-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash.

Five lanes of the southbound side of the free were in the West Los Angeles shortly after 10 a.m. The carpool and 1-4 lanes were closed, causing a five- mile back-up of southbound traffic.

The rider, a resident of Reseda, was on a 2007 Suzuki GSX R-series sportbike in the left main lane north of Olympic Boulevard, approaching a 2018 BMW X5 SUV being driven in the next lane to the right by a 60-year-old Beverly Hills man, according to the CHP. For unknown reasons, the rider lost control of the motorcycle, veered to the right and the front of the motorcycle collided with the left rear of the BMW, the CHP reported.
