OC Children's Hospital Wins Praise
Group says CHOC fares well on national survey of safety and quality.
Children's Hospital of Orange County was named one of the nation's 65 top hospitals by the Leapfrog Group, an organization that promotes healthcare safety, quality and affordability.
Only one other children's hospital in California made the list, according to a CHOC press release. It was CHOC's fourth time as a Leapfrog selection.
The Leapfrog survey measures hospital performance in such areas as the use of computerized physician ordering to prevent medication errors, standards for performing high-risk procedures, prevention of infections, and nursing and physician staffing.

“There are too few sources of information on the safety and quality of children’s hospitals, said Leapfrog CEO Leah Binder. "The Leapfrog Group is proud to be one of the only national sources of information that families can turn to when they are faced with the tough decision of which hospital is best for their child.”
The Leapfrog Group is a coalition of public and private purchasers of employee health coverage. It was founded a decade ago.
