Community Mourns Loss of Carolyn Castellanos, Rossmoor Native, Wife and Hockey Mom

Carolyn Castellanos, known for helping found the Los Al hockey team and her whole-hearted support of family and community, died Tuesday.

On Tuesday Feb. 2, Carolyn Ann Castellanos a remarkable, stunning wife, wonderful mother and grandmother passed away peacefully at her home. Carolyn grew up in Rossmoor, a Los Al graduate and for the past 28 years lived at her home in Cypress.

She spent years working at GTE and continued in the Information Technology world. She was very involved with her daughter’s activities from girl scouts to dance and became more involved with her son in all the things he participated in from church, to school and sports. Carolyn enjoyed being part of our community which was very important to her. Her biggest contribution was the spirit she brought wherever she went.

She succumbed to ALS, the disease she so bravely battled since her diagnoses in October of 2013. She did not want to be identified as the person with ALS. Instead she wants everyone to remember her as the lively person she was prior to the illness. That should be easy because of her memorable personality.

Her funeral mass will also be at St Hedwig’s the following morning, Tuesday, Feb. 9 at 10:00 a.m. From there she will have a precession to Forest Lawn Cypress, her final resting place. There will be a reception following and again, all are invited.

She touched so many lives and we are all grateful for the time we were given with her and the memories we will have forever. The world is different today as a beautiful person is no longer among but always in our hearts.
