SEAL BEACH, CA —A Seal Beach tourist allegedly robbed a woman he had previously paid for sex, police say.

On Monday, Seal Beach police officers interviewed a sex-worker who said she had been robbed after agreeing to perform sex for money. She told police that a man, identified as 22-year-old Jonathan Sosa of Hialeah, Florida —a visitor to Seal Beach—solicited her for services over a website.

"They agreed upon a meeting location and price through text messages," Seal Beach Police Lt. Julia Clasby reported. "Upon arrival to the address in the city of Seal Beach, the victim drove with Sosa a short distance away."

When she refused to give to return the money, Sosa physically assaulted her and retrieved the cash from the vehicle, according to reports.

He then left the vehicle and ran back to the residence.

The female victim followed him, driving her car, and ran into the residence, and woke up the people inside, alerting them of the violent assault.

One resident walked the victim outside and called the police.

Police arrived and confirmed the woman had minor visible injuries to her neck.

Sosa was found inside the home and detained at the scene.

Police reviewed text messages on the suspect and victim's phones, confirming the exchange between Sosa and the woman.

"The female victim declined medical attention," Clasby says.

Sosa was placed under arrest for one count of felony robbery and was later booked at the Orange County Jail.

The Seal Beach Police Department is seeking additional information about this incident.
