Goose Nearly ODs In Drug Dump, Saved By Local Rescue

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA -The Wetlands and Wildlife Care Center of Huntington Beach treated a Canadian goose and a seagull after both birds ate pills scattered at a nearby park, the group said over Twitter. Those birds were released back into the wild the day after Christmas, the group says.

Last week, several birds gobbled up pills scattered on the ground of Carr Park on Springdale Street. Witnesses noticed two strange-behaving birds before they passed out, the group said.

The best guess on the drugs, according to pictures, included heart medications, antidepressants, anti-anxiety pills, and insomnia medications, the group said over social media.

"A concerned citizen called in the distressed wildlife," the organization said.

The birds were treated with IV fluids, flushing their systems of the prescription pills. Five days later, the goose had made a full recovery.

"Thanks to them for taking the time to help," the WWCC spokesperson said.
