Haunted Car Wash Drive-Thru Scares Worth The Wait In Huntington

A local Orange County car wash transformed their business into a drive-thru house of horror after dark, weekends through Halloween night.

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA —A local Orange County business took things one step further for Halloween in 2020. The Haunted Car Wash, Tunnel of Terror OC opened Thursday night to rave crowd reviews. It will stay open three nights a week until Halloween, organizers say.

If you love scaring yourself silly, head to Russel Fischer Express Car Wash.

The scares start at 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the car wash building on 16016 Beach Boulevard in Huntington Beach.

Here, owners and operators have themed out the grounds into a sadistic carnival. They filled the cavernous car wash with flashing lights and freaky music. A cast of characters, all mask-wearing and socially distant, do their best to ensure you have a frightfully good time while you wait in line, and once you go inside.

There are no "fast passes," just $20 a car for some of the best scares of the season. According to visitors, the lines moved fairly quickly and was far worth the price of admission.

And don't forget to lock the car doors.

It took Long Vo, the marketing director for the Tunnel of Terror project, just 13 days to put the idea together. He has amassed a cast of creepy characters to make your head spin.

"I wanted to give back to the community and save Halloween, and thought, why not do something like this," Vo told reporters.

He's gotten the word out through traditional and social media.

At the grand opening Thursday night, the brave waited their turn from behind their car windows.

Chainsaw bearing clowns did their best to bring on the scary, lunging, and drawing "jump-scares" from the unwitting. Some of the Haunted Car Wash cast carried disembodied heads, and others clamored to get inside of your car.

We don't recommend you open the windows.

Once inside, they do wash your car. Though crazed clowns and monsters scare are doing the window washing or pressing ghoulish faces to the windows in addition to drying rags.
