Coroner ID's Seal Beach Apartment Fire Victim

SEAL BEACH, CA —An 83-year-old man was identified after dying in a Seal Beach apartment fire early Monday morning, officials say.

Denis Mulvihill died as a result of an apartment fire in his Seal Beach home, the Orange County Coroner's Office reported Tuesday.

The fire broke out about 1:50 a.m. Monday in the 1500 block of Northwood Road, according to Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Sean Doran.

The origin of the blaze was traced to an electric stove in the kitchen, but the exact cause of the fire was still under investigation, Doran said.

Firefighters arrived to extinguish the blaze, and paramedics treated the patient at the scene and took the patient to the Los Alamitos Medical Center. He was pronounced deceased at 3:30 a.m., the coroner's office says.
