HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA — Huntington Beach's craft distillery Surf City Still Works produces a family of hard seltzers that promise to give brands like White Claw a run for their money.

Taste, flavor and time-honored traditions rule the day for brewer Josh Kornoff. Co-founder of Surf City Still Works, Kornoff, says that they answer a void they noticed in the hard seltzer market.

Craft Spirits and cocktails are the boutique distillery's specialty, according to Kornoff said in a recent release. "We saw a void in the hard seltzer market to offer consumers delicious and fresh cocktail-flavored seltzers," Kornoff said.

Each can pours with a neutral, light flavor which brings across the nod to the Moscow Mule, Mai tai, Margarita, or Soda and Lime while still maintaining the refreshment of a bubbly seltzer.

Each seltzer is brewed in small batches at the Huntington Beach distillery. They are always gluten-free, with zero carbs and 5 percent alcohol by volume.

Surf City Still Works is the only distillery in Southern California to offer a full suite of spirits, according to Kornoff. They create canned cocktails and hard seltzers.

In 2017, the distillery began by crafting gin, vodka, rum and whiskey. They launched their canned craft cocktails in 2019, inspired by popular cocktails from their tasting room menu. Now, they are bringing in cocktail-inspired hard seltzers to the mix.

The seltzers are available for purchase to be shipped or picked up curbside on the distillery’s website and are coming soon to retails stores across California.

The SCSW team also plans to keg each seltzer to have them featured on tap at local restaurants.

“We have been in a very exciting growth period for the last 18 months,” said Kornoff.

Surf City Still Works is nearing completion on a 25,000-square-foot facility. There, they will produce, bottle and can all of their products. Plans are in the works to open a 100-person tasting room with a full-service kitchen on-site in late 2021.

“We’re having a lot of fun, and our products are resonating with our communities,” said Kornoff. “We will be drinking these hard seltzers all summer and can’t wait to invite the community to the tasting room grand opening.”
