Orange County Activist Arrested By FBI In Capitol Insurrection
The FBI has arrested a north Orange County man suspected of gaining access into the Capitol Building and unlawful activities on January 6.

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA — A Huntington Beach man that the FBI says engaged in insurrectionist activities at the Capitol Building on Jan. 6 was arrested Thursday, officials say.
Mark Steven Simon was named as being present inside the Capitol Building on the insurrection day. Simon allegedly joined the crowd that entered the Capitol Building during the siege that sent hundreds of congressmen and women, senators, and government leaders into hiding for several hours.
The FBI affidavit says that though a video Simon shared on Facebook, his time at the Capitol Building was deleted from his and another woman's accounts. Officials managed to locate the video, which was included in their documents.

On the now-uncovered post, Simon claimed to be "peacefully storming the Capitol with a #StopTheSteal.
"The Orange County Intelligence Assessment Center shared a copy of the video with the FBI's Los Angeles Office on Jan. 17," the affidavit reads.

The FBI has also uncovered a Youtube video (below) that agents believe in having been recorded during the insurrection that shows, at the 1:30 mark, Simon turning the camera on himself and yelling with enthusiasm for being inside the building.
"I'm in the Capitol, baby, yeah!" he shouts into the camera, face clearly visible.
Huntington Beach Police working with the FBI, confirmed that he was a known activist in the city.
Mark Simon joined 150 other alleged insurrectionists from across the country in his Thursday arrest.
This report will be updated.
