Sir Patrick Stewart Makes His Hollywood Mark At Chinese Theater

The "Star Trek: Next Generation" icon known as Jean-Luc Picard made his lasting impression Monday at Hollywood's TCL Chinese Theater.

HOLLYWOOD, CA — Sir Patrick Stewart's hand and footprints were forever immortalized outside of TCL Chinese Theater on Monday, the same day his new series was picked up for a second season by CBS All Access.

"I'm still not believing any of this," Stewart told reporters after pressing his hands and tennis shoes into the wet cement. "It's as if, at any moment, someone will say, 'Patrick! Get up! You're dreaming again!'"

One of his biggest honors, however, is a return to the character he made famous in the 1990s. Stewart is set to reprise his role as Capt. Jean-Luc Picard from "Star Trek: The Next Generation" — a character he portrayed for seven years — in the new series, "Star Trek: Picard," which premieres Jan. 23 on CBS All Access.

"The energy and excitement around the premiere of 'Star Trek: Picard' has reached a magnitude greater than all of us at CBS All Access could have hoped for," said Julie McNamara, executive vice president of original content for CBS All Access. "We're thrilled to announce plans for a second season before the series' debut, and we are confident that 'Star Trek' fans and new viewers alike will be captured by the stellar cast and creative team's meticulously crafted story when it premieres on Jan. 23."
