Stanton residents grill Assemblymember on legislative issues

Community meeting held at Civic Hall

Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva (CA-65) hosted an engaging community meeting at the Stanton Civic Center on Saturday morning.

Some 25 city residents joined the Assemblywoman to share community issues and discuss legislative priorities.

Topics ranged from education to housing to water quality and included an update on the county’s Veterans Cemetery project.

The meeting was introduced and moderated by the Mayor of Stanton, Carol Warren, and the city was well represented with Councilor Al Ethans and Mayor Pro-Tem David Shawver also in attendance.

On Friday, January 5th she will host a Breakfast Club meeting at Cypress College which will feature a talk from State Treasurer John Chiang. The meeting will run from 7:30-8:30am.

A community meeting will be held the next day, Saturday, January 6th at the Cypress Community Center, at 5700 Orange Ave. The meeting will run from 10am-12pm.
