Suspect Shoots At Cars On 405 Freeway In North Orange County

Police are searching for a suspect who shot at two vehicles driving through Seal Beach on the 405 Freeway Tuesday.

SEAL BEACH, CA — Two drivers heading southbound on the 405 in Seal Beach experienced a moment of terror Tuesday afternoon when an unknown shooter blasted out the back windows of their mutual cars.

Both drivers were inside SUVs at the time of the shooting, and each had the back window of their vehicle "explode" from the blasts, CHP reports.

No injuries were reported from the attack, though both admitted to ABC7 reporters that they were shaken by what could have happened.

One driver was in the slow lane. Another was in the fast lane when their rear windows shattered.

Kristina Martinez Adame spoke to the reporters from ABC7 at the scene.

"My little one is always in the car with us, and at any given time, I have kids in the backseat," she says. "This time, thankfully, they weren't."

She says it was "terrifying to think of what could have happened if the children were in the car."

Another driver, Manuel Padilla, says that he heard one boom, then another.

"My back window exploded in with a big boom," he told reporters. "I needed to get off the freeway and wasn't able to get off the freeway until Westminster."

California Highway Patrol officers are investigating the incident and others, according to a spokesperson.

One freeway shooting took place on the southbound 5 Freeway in Buena Park, and a second on the eastbound 91 Freeway at the 5 Freeway transition, according to the CHP. One person suffered a minor injury from flying glass, CHP reported.

Another incident occurred Wednesday morning on the Santa Ana (5) Freeway near downtown Los Angeles, near Broadway, at about 6 a.m.

If you have noticed suspicious activity while driving on the 405 in the Seal Beach area just after 4 p.m. Tuesday or who may have information, please contact the CHP at 714-892-4426.
