UnitedHealthcare Helps Families in Need at the OC Food Bank

1 out of 5 children in Orange County are hungry every day

Millions of Americans live in households that are food insecure, which means that they don’t have the resources to regularly acquire nutritious, safe food. Food banks, such as the one in Orange County, are almost always in need of nonperishable food items. 1 out of 5 children in Orange County are hungry every day and 35% of those being fed by the Food Bank are children. In addition to monetary and food donations, donating your time to end hunger in your community is also important, as the Food Bank relies on volunteers.

Over 50 UnitedHealthcare employees and their families recently volunteered at the Orange County Food Bank sorting, packing and stacking food for local families in need. In only a few hours the team packed over 1360 boxes, which were given to those in need in Orange County.

While there is a greater demand during the holiday season, volunteers are needed year round to pack food boxes. A few hours of your time can make an enormous difference to the food banks and the families they serve. Visit ocfoodbank.org to learn more.
