58 Members Of IBEW Local 332 Join YWCA's Walk A Mile In Her Shoes

58 electricians from IBEW Local 332 participate in YWCA's Walk A Mile in Her Shoes event, raising $15,302 for the campaign.

They were wired to help end domestic violence!

58 electricians from IBEW Local 332 put aside wiring and electrical installation concerns on Thursday to strut in high heels of all sizes along Santana Row as part of the YWCA’s Walk A Mile in Her Shoes event. The IBEW Local 332 team comprised almost 10% of the 600 men who participated—and they wore some of the largest high heels (and platforms and flats)!

IBEW Local 332’s team raised $15,302 for the campaign. The IBEW Team Captain is Lilliana Martinez, a first year inside apprentice; the IBEW Local 332 coordinator is Javier Casillas, President of the Local.

IBEW LOCAL 332 (IBEW332.org) represents all types of Electrical Workers in Santa Clara County. LOCAL 332 frequently donates to various community causes, and has been a sponsor of the Walk A mile In Her Shoes Event for several years.

The event, sponsored by the YWCA Silicon Valley, raises awareness and funds to empower and support survivors of domestic violence. This year’s campaign reported raising over $220,000, well past the targeted goal of $185,000.

In California, a sexual assault occurs every 56 minutes. The YWCA is on a mission to end violence against women in all of its forms. Funds raised from Walk a Mile will empower and support survivors of domestic violence through the life-changing and life-saving services offered by YWCA Silicon Valley.
