Antarctica & the Arctic
This is usually on the No.l. bucket list for many people. Check it out - a wonderful trip

I always enjoy reading traveler’s Bucket Lists of where they would like to go. Not surprisingly, many people have Antarctica and the Arctic on their list. Polar expedition leaders are in a category of their own. As research scientists, conservationists, historians and wildlife photographers, their credentials and expertise are matched only by their commitment to the success of the voyage, which is overseen down to the last detail. From lectures, briefings and on- shore demonstrations, the expedition team make learning about the polar environment fun and engaging. I spoke recently with a client who at age 86 went to Antarctica on her own, and said it was the best trip she had ever experienced. She eloquently exclaimed that If it were music, the trip would rival Mozart, if it was art it would compare to Michelangelo, and if literature it would equal Shakespeare.
This is a journey which makes a wonderful holiday trip, or a gift such as a milestone birthday, or a graduation present. Many families choose Antarctica for their holiday destination, as December and January are high season months to observe wildlife and warm weather.
Exploring the seventh continent with Abercrombie & Kent, which is one of the best travel companies in the world, is a wonderful experience and one we recommend highly. They have been offering award winning travel in the polar regions for 30 years on small luxury ships.

Currently there is space on two expeditions this year; one on December 10-22, 2021, and one on December 20 – January 6, 2022. The first one has the acclaimed climate scientist, Dr. James McClintock onboard who will escort travelers to the US Palmer Science Station, where he used to work. The second Expedition Cruise visits the Falkland Islands and South Georgia as well as Antarctica. One excellent pre tour extension which I recommend highly is a visit to Iguazu Falls; one of the top three waterfalls in the world. It is a truly spectacular sight to see, and I recommend visiting both the Brazilian and Argentinian side of the falls.
For any of the polar cruises with Abercrombie & Kent there is a maximum of l99 guests on board, although the ship can hold many more. All shore excursions, tips, drinks, and port charges are included. All staterooms and suites have a full balcony view. There is butler service for those reserving a suite.

If travel next year is more appealing, the Antarctica cruises are available for 2022 and 2023. Many offer early booking savings.
For the Arctic, there will be an epic journey across the top of Canada next summer. The Northwest Passage: From Greenland to the Bering Sea is Aug 23- Sept 15. For those hoping to see a polar bear, this cruise is ideal. Arctic Cruise: Adventure In Search of the Polar Bear June 30 – July 14, 2022. The trip starts in Oslo, Norway and ends in Reykjavik, Iceland. I’ve done this trip and would recommend going to Oslo three days ahead. Do visit the Viking Museum, the Nobel Prize hall and the yacht harbor. It’s a wonderful city to explore. I am a keen fan of the Northern Lights – Aurora Borealis – and have been to this part of the world many times.
Every client we have sent on an expedition to either Antarctica or the Arctic raves about the experience. You will go travel where the average tourist doesn't go, and the larger ships can't visit. Treat yourself - check it out.
