Oceania cruise line, on Insignia. 180 days of bliss

Around the World

This is a once in a lifetime experience and has been No. 1 on my bucket/wish list. I have been a caregiver for a few years, and it has been harder to cope with than I ever expected. Watching the love of my life, a Colonel in the U.S. Marines, go down hill slowly, has been sad. Going through some bad times, I kept myself in a good spirit by thinking of one day, I would be going on a 180 day cruise. I am not so interested in all the sightseeing, I think I have already been to half the ports of call, but I just want to be looked after, no cooking, and feel spoilt. I look forward to having a full night’s sleep without having to get up regularly to dole out pills If I want to stay in my cabin, and watch the tele, and eat a wonderful dinner, then I can. I am not on duty 18 hours a day. I got a lot of peace from just thinking about taking a walk on deck, reading a book and taking a yoga class.

You start in Los Angeles and end in New York. An unusual itinerary, and remember, you must go to Los Angeles the day before the cruise sets sail. The world has to cope with some new safety rules because of the virus. A friend in Australia told me that they have been told to wear TWO masks, and put a little dab of Vaseline on the end of your nose before getting on a flight. A friend who was a senior airline pilot told me to wear a diaper on the flight, and not use the restroom at all. Take disinfectant wipes with you, and wipe all around your seat. Take your own drink and something to eat. Best to be safe than sorry. Wear rubber gloves.

When you divide the cost of the cruise amongst the number of days, it is of good value. If the cabin you want is sold out, then wait list. You can also book for a particular segment, if you can't take the entire cruise. If you can’t make it for 2022, then perhaps go in 2023. Reading about the itinerary makes me happy, full of hope, and I dream. Why don’t you do the same.
