Commission Seats Open For Los Altos Residents

LOS ALTOS, CA – The Los Altos City Council is inviting residents to apply for appointments to open seats on the Design Review, Environmental, Historical, Planning and Public Arts Commission.

Each Commission contributes knowledge and expertise that helps guide and inform decisions made by the City Council.

"Serving on a commission is a fantastic way to give back to your community and residents are encouraged to take advantage of this unique opportunity," city officials said.

The city provided the following details:

Design Review Commission
The Complete Streets Commission advises the City Council on transportation solutions that enable safe, attractive, comfortable and independent access and travel for pedestrians, bicyclists, transit users and motorists. (Two terms expiring in September 2022; two eligible incumbents)

Environmental Commission
The Environmental Commission advises the City Council on issues that affect the natural and built environment in the City and region. (One term expiring in March 2022)

Historical Commission
The Historical Commission advises the City Council on issues relating to historical properties including maintaining the Historical Resources Inventory. (Four terms expiring in September 2022; two eligible incumbents)

Planning Commission
The Planning Commission is responsible for design review of commercial projects, environmental and traffic impact analyses, General Plan updates, and other projects as directed. (Three terms expiring in September 2022; three eligible incumbents)

Public Arts Commission
The Public Arts Commission advises the City Council in all matters pertaining to public arts programs. (One term expiring in September 2021)

Application Process

Applicants must be residents of the City of Los Altos to be considered for an appointment. Members are appointed for four-year terms.

Applications are due by Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2018. Interviews are tentatively scheduled to take place Tuesday, September 4, 2018.
