Nearly 20 years ago, we were led to believe that it was all about thread count and that a higher thread count meant a better product. So naturally, an 1800 thread count sheet (yes, I actually saw it on Amazon) will give you a top-flight luxury hotel night’s sleep, right? After speaking with Celeste, I came to the conclusion that while thread count is a consideration, even more important is the quality of the cotton, the hand or feel of the fabric, the nature of the finishing, and of course the design and value.
