Demolition Begins On Former Hillview Community Center Building
The longtime facility is set to be replaced by a new, $38 million center in the same location.

LOS ALTOS, CA — Patch reader Shelly Bowers submitted this photo on Tuesday of the demolition of the former Hillview Community Center, which is set to be replaced by a new facility in its place.
The longtime facility at 97 Hillview Avenue began to show wear over the years, but the planned new facility has faced scrutiny for its $38 million cost. The city council approved the plan to demolish the old center by a 3-2 vote in August.
The former facility was more than 30,000 square feet, while the new building, set to be built in the same location, is expected to be 24,500 square feet.
