Vargas, a Mountain View High School graduate who won a Pulitzer Prize as part of the reporting team covering the Virginia Tech massacre, publicly announced he was an undocumented immigrant in 2011. He was sent to Mountain View from the Philippines as a 12-year-old to live with his maternal grandparents.
