Los Altos House Fire Displaces 5, Damages Much Of Residence

The fire broke out at 9:15 p.m. Monday night on Hawthorne Avenue and was extinguished by Santa Clara Co. firefighters in 40 minutes.

LOS ALTOS, CA — A residence broken up into two units was half damaged by fire and engulfed with smoke as a result of a blaze Monday night on the 300 block of Hawthorne Avenue in Los Altos, the Santa Clara County Fire Department reported.

The fire displaced five people, one of whom suffered symptoms of smoke inhalation but declined treatment.

Firefighters arrived on the scene at 9:15 p.m. and discovered heavy smoke and fire coming out of the front of the house. They extinguished the blaze in 40 minutes.
