Receipt Links Woman To Mail Stolen From Los Altos, 7 Other Cities
Amid the contents of discarded bags of trash was a receipt from a local marijuana dispensary, Santa Clara County sheriff's officials said.
SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — Santa Clara County sheriff's officials were working to contact 93 residents of Cupertino, Saratoga, Los Altos Hills, Lodi, San Jose, Morgan Hill, Los Altos and Mountain View after their mail was found in garbage bags discarded on a Los Altos roadway. According to the sheriff's office, a citizen reported the bags as suspicious on Sunday, June 17, and the deputy who responded noticed the contents of the bags were several pieces of mail.
As the deputy continued combing through the bags, he discovered a receipt from a local marijuana dispensary. Deputies later determined that the person named on the receipt was San Jose resident Brianne Campana, who was already on county probation for prior theft offenses, sheriff's officials said.
Under the terms of her probation, Campana’s residence and car were searched, allegedly yielding methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and more stolen mail.
